Natalie Folan

Fine Art & Design

An artist living passionately in the middle of Ireland's ancient heart.

About

The artist:

Natalie was born in The Pacific Northwest in 1990. After earning her Bachelors degree in Sociology from The University of Edinburgh, where she focused on the Sociology of Art, she moved to Galway, Ireland and set up her studio. She has been developing her work as a fine artist since 2019, all the while simultaneously growing her little family. Natalie now resides in County Roscommon with her husband and two small children on the old Irish farmstead of their dreams.Natalie's preferred mediums are oils, as well as gouache and ink on occasion. She is also adept in sculpture and is eager to explore this medium further. Due to the challenges of raising small children, she has recently branched out into digital painting, striving to emmulate traditional mediums and methods as closely as possible

Natalie has been active for only a few years, but her diverse body of work already boasts a number of paintings for several private and business commissions such as product displays, custom logos and marketing design, and even hand-painted wedding invitations. She has also committed to fully sustainable studio practices, sourcing the most ethically produced supplies possible, as well as handling and discarding materials with the environment in mind. When not in the studio, Natalie is found with her hands in the soil of her garden, delighting in the beauty of the seasons. She is inspired by natural themes - particularly flowers, folklore, medieval history, divine feminine power, and the small, intimate moments that make life all the richer.

Natalie's Forthcoming Show2026

The journey has begun, and the unveiling of a shrouded, yet fascinating time in Irish history is in the works. With an unprecedented amount of meticulous research and a synthesis of anthropological and artistic insight, Natalie is preparing to bring to you an enlightening exploration of the crux between the Celtic Iron Age and its enigmatic transition into Early Christianity. Escorting us through this transitional moment in Irish history, the incisive comparison of the life and legend of Brigid - Christian Saint to some, Pagan Goddess to others - will lend us the backbone of Natalie's first solo show, allowing for a robust envisioning of a time of warring Celtic clans, of magic wielding druids, and of dedicated followers to a new faith that would irrevocably change the land of Ériu.Natalie's first solo show will aim to bring a compelling narrative to life, casting a new light - and a way of connecting to - the mysteries and enduring stories of Ireland's historical landscape.Coming 2026, Date TBA.
